The Commission sought an explanation to Slovenia on his dark motorway vignette system

Posted on August 3, 2013 – 22:49

Images Tourism is good. , the EU executive has decided to show it deals with the same speed attacks on the free movement of persons as the free movement of goods, services and capital . I admit that his speed surprised me. At a press briefing yesterday in Brussels, the spokesman of the Commission acknowledged that "European citizens have the right to be properly informed by signs and the European Commission will return to this issue in the second half to push towards greater transparency "states applying a motorway vignette system. Michel Barnier, Commissioner for Internal Market has even sent me a tweet: "obviously the internal market rules are not respected. We make the point more quickly with the authorities! Thank you & happy holidays! "

A senior European official, as soon as I told my mishap on Twitter to the Slovenian-Croatian border, the Commissioners were seized (Siim Kallas and Michel Barnier) to launch an investigation into the Slovenian system (as well as Austrian , Hungarian, Czech, etc..).

According to the Commission, I am far from being the first to complain about the lack of clear information at the entrance of the Austrian and Slovenian territories and exorbitant fines that hit those who did not understand that They had to buy a vignette. She herself had already moved in 2012 as I reported in my post yesterday. Better, in 2008, she had been forced to change its Slovenia vignette system, because it does suggested that biannual rather shorter for transit vehicles.

There is no question the payment of roads and highways, but to develop a clear and understandable system, which is not the case today in the EU countries that apply the thumbnail. The information is often available only in the language of the country of transit (for Austria and Slovenia) and it is difficult to seize on the countries of the Schengen area where the stop at the border has been deleted. If, for travel across the EU, it is necessary in doubt, stop at each border to learn (and it is not always possible in practice) or visit the net before hitting the road to find out intricacies of local regulations on traffic to avoid being severely clubbing when testing, this is akin to an obstacle to free movement and discriminatory treatment (as local, they obviously know what it returns, unless fraudulent intent). Besides contesting the fines in court, in practice, made possible (in Slovenia, only one written in Slovenian PV that must sign to get his passport within a very brief point and written only in Slovenian, etc. .).

    • Kerala (India) is amazingly green and has great beaches - abt 4.5 hour flight.

Turkey has areas that are green, hilly - cold in winter anyway - 4 hour flight.

Both of these two destinations can be done pretty cheaply.
