[Page 1 of 2] Nando Piezzi

Second half of September, only a week of time available and all sites of the network predict weather thunder and lightning on the mountains of Slovenia, right where we wanted to go to finish that photo shoot on the Great War ... what? The little yellow suns in the map of Old Europe on the screen suggest: go more to the east Decision taken, you go to Hungary. Slovenia can wait.
Let's go, Ludovico on the gate of the house greets us by saying "SivaperdilàperBudapest" indicating East.
We travel peacefully, avoiding motorways, passing through a border crossing point, Nova Gorica, which in our memories was a barrier, a stop mandatory, and which now involves barely an unnecessary precaution slowing the car by travelers more hesitant.
Small houses with pointed roofs, the villages Slovenians have not changed: a Razdrto the monument to the fallen of '41-'45, graced the historic red star, is proudly displayed in the middle of the small square, has been there since 1951.

In Ljubljana we walk through the streets of the city center: mid-afternoon the cafes 'trendy' still closed suggest that the city comes alive at night. Some people offering to sell the objects of his past, on a cloth spread on the ground, some artistic proposal a bit 'weird catches our attention. But we want to get to Maribor before dark, we have to hurry ...
We spent the night at a campsite perfectly neat and perfectly desert near the spa (desert so that there were not even the managers, in their place a sign in four languages: "we're out, sit where you like, feel like home "). leave a note of" thank you "and take a walk early in the morning the streets of the center of Maribor. Old and new architecture alternate, remote-controlled gates allow access from the pedestrian area, gleaming high-powered machines. The great avenues that lead to the center kept the names of the recent past (Titus, Partizani ...) and on a side street we come across an old showcase of photographer entirely decorated with photos of faded Pertini with Tito, Tito with Nasser , Titus with Paul VI, Tito with Fidel Castro, Brezhnev with Tito, Tito with Churchill ... forty years of history before our eyes!

Just beautiful - and less expensive than Greece.
You can do it on that budget - you'd have to go on the cheaps to do that in Greece (and, the travel to the nice islands is very time consuming).

I would love it if its cold, hilly, green, beach etc., I dont wnat any crowded city area or deserts.. I cant afford a lot of money too. May be i can spend around 4000 dhirams inclusive of flight tickets.. Pls let me know if you know any such place.

    • Kerala (India) is amazingly green and has great beaches - abt 4.5 hour flight.

Turkey has areas that are green, hilly - cold in winter anyway - 4 hour flight.

Both of these two destinations can be done pretty cheaply.
