Of 11 to 20 March 2010 I was on InterRail trip through Eastern Europe.
Eastern Europe Tour '10 on a larger map
As is to be seen on the map, we visited the following (main) Städe:
- Prague, Czech Republic
- Bratislava, Slovakia
- Budapest, Hungary
- Zagreb, Croatia
- Ljubljana, Slovenia
- (Salzburg, Austria)
The following books I have read in the mood or taken along for the ride:
1 Day: from Hanau to Prague (Wednesday, 11/03/2010)
Early in the morning we took the ICE train to Nuremberg and from there by bus to the Czech capital Prague. There, we first sought us a Hostel: after us, the first two are not convenient we trusted to the HI hostel sign on the third hostel and ended up as the Hostel Downtown Prague - good decision. However, there is no breakfast, but 10% discount if you are a member of the Youth Hostels Association.
Next stop eating. After about 30 minutes looking around and explore the restaurant, we were successful and became acquainted with the same famous Czech beer. By the way, in any Czech beer restaurant was the best drink. Well rested, we got us day tickets for bus, metro and tram and went to the line 22 of the tram on a round trip. The journey we go over the Vltava River and then relaxing on the hill, look down from the Prague Castle in the city. Keeps us up there then nothing in the car and we get out and enjoy the view once the city.
It continues with a tour of the castle, with a renewed view of the panoramic views of Prague (including American and German Embassy) will be rewarded. Of course, in our private city tour can not miss the famous Wenceslas bridge. So we reject our plan to make a complete round trip to the line 22 and return to the banks of the Vltava River. Unfortunately, the bridge is currently a half Wenceslas construction site, for not very full.
Driven by cold and hunger after a long search we go to a restaurant. This time gibts Czech specialties - pork dumplings with cream and cranberries to. But unfortunately it does not taste really good. Completely flat, we return to the hostel and agree on that everything else on the morrow to move. We are just too broken.
2 Tag: Prague (Wednesday, 12/03/2010)
We make quite comfortably at half past ten on the search for a hearty breakfast. After a short time we find a cafe where we got a delicious breakfast. After a short shopping and money and get on to the Old Town Square. We start at 10.45 to a free city tour guide . Our tour guide is Katka and half Czech. The other half is American. So she speaks perfect English and also so loud that you can follow it easily. The three-hour tour takes you through many attraction and is supplemented with many fun and exciting anecdotes. After about 90min break is in a bagel shop. Who liked it, which may like to give a tip at the end. But do you really like and it's still cheaper than other guides. Only the weather did not play again. When the temperatures were not icy enough, it really needs to start snowing yet .. But it is no one to spoil the mood!
